Calphalon Professional Nonstick 11"x18" Double Griddle

The Best of Them All
I checked out all the double-burner griddles and this one is my favorite (and I own it!) The reason is that there is no grease trough around the outside edge. I don't cook anything greasy enough to collect in a trough or ridge. The problem with the trough is that it makes it impossible to cook "runny" food such as eggs or pancakes. This Calphalon doesn't have the ridge, and it works great! The non-stick coating is also holding up exceptionally well. I cook with gas using a smaller burner and a larger burner, and the aluminum construction conducts the heat well enough so that pancakes brown evenly. The price is also usually highly discounted (from being overpriced anyway) to less than its competitors. I only wish this was part of the Calphalon commercial line so that the handles match my other stuff, but that is a nit. (The Calphalon commercial version has a trough.)

The pleasure is mine!
This is a delightful piece of cookware. The ability to span two burners allows for making enough pancakes to feed a family or to cook and keep warm at the same time! The heat is spread very evenly without any hot spots. There is absolutely no need for oil or butter (I use butter/olive oil for flavor!) as the nonstick works wonderfully. The two corners at one end are "crimped" which allow for the easy pouring off of bacon grease without it running to the underside of the griddle (a really nice touch). Overall, this griddle is as good as I have ever used (in my 40+ years of cooking). This griddle is a real pleasure to use .

Very Even Heat
I have a ceramic cooktop with a bridge element. The cast iron double griddle/grills made sold at Williams Sonoma / Crate & Barrel are not supposed to be used on this surface. Additionally, a 20" griddle is 1/4" too long for the glass top cooktop.
The 11x18 Calphalon fixes both problems. It is a great size and does not harm the ceramic top.

I knew that with the bridge element, that the griddle would provide even heat across the length, but I was surpised at how well the griddle provided heat in the areas that were beyond the elements. I can cook up a half pound of bacon all at one time perfectly, and the corners are crimped to allow for easy grease pouring.

I highly recommend this pan.

Calypso Basics 3-Piece Microwave Steamer Set, Grey

Nice set when on sale
I ordered these a while back in the lime green color for about $5. The set is worth the price I paid.

The containers are hard plastic and I suspect the lids will warp soon. I like that they have the steamer hole in the top which can be closed as well. I am happy with my purchase, but I would not pay more than $5 for the set.

Convenient sizes, not sturdy
I really liked these microwave steamers until the covers to adjust steam escape popped off the lids and could not be reattached. After continued use the inside became rough with white decomposing plastic. I tossed them into the recycle bin and replaced them with 1 quart Libby glass covered cooking containers that can go in both the microwave and the oven.

Clipper 215-00098 2-Quart Aluminum Sauce Pan with Grip

Not 9.5"
I had thought this item would be 9.5" in diameter as per a component pot that is often sold with it, that size was wring but the item was so inexpensive that sending it back would have been a joke. Other than that is a fine, aluminum lid; I cannot use it myself.

Handle is rough.
The lid fits perfectly on my saute pan, thanks to the product description. However, the handle is rough. It feels like sandpaper. But, that does not matter since I use potholders/tongs to lift the lid during cooking.

The price was great.

Browne Foodservice 12 Quart Aluminum Stock Pot

Despite picture this pot does not come with a lid
The pot is fine, however, it does not come with a lid. I called Amazon and was told that I had understood the listing correctly, it should have a lid. They talked me into having them ship me another one because the first one was probably just a packing error. The second one came without a lid also. Now I had two pots to send back. I called them again and was told that they would send this info to the lT department to get the listing fixed. I just looked at the listing and it still shows a lid even though it has been several weeks. I was trying to buy this pot for Thanksgiving, 2012. It is now January 31, 2013. So if you need a lid you will not get it with this pot. I gave it two stars instead of one because the pot itself seemed to be good.

Baker's Secret 116474101 Nonstick Double-Heart Holiday Pan

Cute little pan
It is very light weight and has a thin nonstick coating. I plan to only use it for some birthdays and Valentine's Day, so for that reason it should last a long time. Although it says it is dishwasher safe, I plan to hand wash it. Also don't forget to lower the oven temperature by 25 degrees due to the dark coating. I also own this brand's large muffin tin and it works perfectly with even browning etc.

Bird Whistle for Michael Graves Kettle

direct replacement of original - good and bad
This is a direct replacement of the original Bird Whistle which melted when someone left the kettle on the stove. Why was the kettle left on the stove you ask? Well, partly due to the weak whistle of the Bird Whistle not being heard from the other room. The other issue with that removing the Bird Whistle to pour your boiling water is not the easiest - it holds in pretty well and the steam is coming out of the whistle when you try to remove it. So unless you want to risk getting a steam burn, you need to have a pot holder or other protection.

So while the Bird Whistle is a direct replacement of the original, that means while it has the fun and whimsical design of the original which I like, it also has the design issues and safety issues of the original.

I intended to have this set for many years since it was a rather pricey purchase, but I cannot see these pieces lasting for years after what has happened in the first few months.

A Favorite Pan!
Wow, what a great pan! It is very well made with a beautiful, glossy stainless exterior and a perfect teflon interior. The handle is a sexy, polished stainless casting that feels great and is riveted firmly to the body.

This pan heats very evenly and is like magic for a two-egg omlette. I have produced only moist and tender omlettes with this pan. I've used many omlette pans including a stainless All Clad and some non-stick commercial pans and this one...is almost like magic. I thought I was jaded and could not be suprised - what a delight.

This is a real bargain. Buy and use this beauty with confidence.

I bought a second one at the clearance price.

I also recomend you buy the Farberware 10" lid sold on Amazon.
Either the glass or the stainless one will fit this pan.

BonJour Copper Clad 8-Quart Covered Stockpot

Sold everywhere it seems, but not a review to be found...
This is a nice looking cookware set, but is quite an investment for what the general product description says. Little more than "It's great, send money". So, I did a lot of web surfing and found this on one site. At last, at least something...

"2.6 mm total thickness; 5-ply clad construction; Interior layer-0.4mm 18/10 stainless steel; bonding layer-0.3mm aluminum; core-1.0mm copper; bonding layer-0.3mm aluminum; exterior layer-0.6mm magnitized steel"

An 1mm x 8 x 11 sheet of copper runs about $30, depending on the day. I guess this $400 pot has about $50 or so worth of copper in it. Otherwise it is a normal, run of the mill, aluminum ply pot that runs a few bucks at your local five and dime. I figure a comparable "made in china" (as this one is) pot, technically, should run about $125, or so, at Wal-place. Of course, what price beauty? This does appear to be a handsome unit.

I also learned, or so "they" say, that a "proper" copper layer for...

Crestware 6-Quart Stainless Steel Bain Marie

Perfect for use with an immersion blender
This is mostly used as a hot water bath for custards and other foods that need to be cooked gently. You set it into a pan of water and it works as a double-boiler. However, I bought it for use with my immersion blender. I use the blender for a variety of purposes, but mainly to puree soups. I have had a lot of trouble with splattering when using the blender with the cookware I have. This works perfectly -- it's tall enough so there is no splattering; it's stainless steel, so you can put hot food right from the stove into it with no problem, and it's large enough to hold a good quantity of food. It can be used for so many other cooking tasks as well -- so glad I bought it.

Chasseur Cast Iron 3722OR French Casserole with Lid, Orange Flame

Wonderful heirloom-quality pot
This is an excellent high-quality product that will be passed down to my granddaughters someday. It is very heavy, the color is bright and cheery, and it provides even heat distribution.

I love this!
I got this about a week ago from my local Tuesday Morning. They had them on sale for a little over $50 after taxes. I've always liked cooking on cast iron, but never had a dutch oven until now. I'm so glad I own this. The flame color is gorgeous. It's really pretty. In fact, the first few times I used it I actually felt guilty for cooking with something so pretty. Despite being such a good looking dish, it cooks just as well as the rest of my cast iron and is much more versatile than many other pots and pans.

This is 5.5 quarts and would be suitable to roast a small chicken or a couple of cornish game hens. It's great for stews and soups as well. I think the next thing I'm going to use it for will be mac and cheese since it works so well on the stove and in the oven. Clean up is incredibly easy with this as well.

Love it BUT!!!
I ordered this pan with the intension of receiving an Orange flame color.
But I received a Bora Bora color. I think that is sad and poorly rechecked sinds it is an expensive product.
Overall nothing wrong with the product. Very happy!!! And I defenatly would have been more excited receiving the right color.

Colorful Cooking!
I bought this because I loved the color. What I was not expecting how easy it is to use and clean. I use it to bake my chicken and veggies. It is not that heavy so my older mother-in-love can use it. I put it right in the dishwashier. It cleans very well. My husband uses it to serve hot wings. Wonderful shape and super easy to store.

Great Dish! Label stinks, though
This is a terrific dish. It's perfect for baking small quantities, which is nice for some of us single folks. I used it to bake some stuffed sole fillets and it worked quite well. My only issue with it it the label that covered the inside bottom of it. The label would not come off! Why on earth they would put that sort of label on a cooking item is beyond me. Even soaking in soapy water for a week didn't seem to touch it. I had to use a window scraper to get the thing off. Other that that, the dish is fabulous and the color is lovely.

Berndes Kuchenchef 9.5 in. Skillet

The best nonstick pan on the market
About a year ago, my favorite nonstick pan crapped out, and I did a lot of market research to figure out what nonstick pan would actually last. I had gotten recommended to Berndes by a relative, and I noticed the 'eterna' pan on the Berndes website, which they featured as their longest lasting nonstick pan.

I did a bit of research, and found that unlike all the other pans that berndes has, this one is coated by a company called Whitford, which specializes solely in nonstick coatings. Their 'eterna' coating process seems to be the latest & greatest, and they performed several reasonably scientific tests to prove so, with impressive results:

[...]

A few words of caution: they show that metal utensils can be used with this nonstick coating. While this coating lasts longer than anything I've ever used with or without metal utensils, using plastic or silicon utensils is still the gentlest, and works just fine for flipping eggs/french toast. Their coating is...

Black Enamelled Whistling Kettle for the Hob

However, I prefer to order the kettle from the US website, but I am worried that it might not be the exact same product. How can I find out if it also has a capacity of 2L like the one on the UK website? I received excellent service from US website when I ordered my Kindle, and prefer to do subsequent orders from USA.

Berndes EcoFit Pearl Ceramic Coated Cast Aluminun 8-1/2-Inch Open Fry Pan/Skillet

Terrible pan!
I paid $75 on sale for this pan, and given that I wanted to be able to just make eggs without added fat, I took a chance - as 2 chefs recommended this pan.
What a bust - after washing, and even seasoning the pan with a few drops of oil, the eggs stuck like mortar.
Round 2 - tried with a healthy 1/2 TB of olive oil, and a hot pan. Stuck AGAIN!
Trying to send it back...I'd rather go less eco friendly with a cheap Target teflon pan than waste money on a pan making claims that don't come through.
Buyer, BEWARE!

I love these pans
I purchased three of these Berndes Pearl Ceramic coated cast aluminum open fry pans -- an 8.5, 10, and 11.5 inch pan. The instructions that came with the pans say to use a small amount of oil before adding the food. A very small amount suffices as nothing adheres to the surfaces during cooking.

I routinely cook breakfast in a single pan, with the 8.5 inch pan being a favorite. A typical breakfast might be pork sausage, sauteed fresh mushrooms with scallions, two sunny side up Eggland's Best, and a cheese sauce all cooked successively in the same pan one after the other as I am on a low carb diet. Nothing sticks. Everything slides out, even the eggs and most of all the cheese sauce.

As they are made from rather substantial thickness of aluminum, they heat fast and evenly. These are neither light weight nor thin, but are substantial pans made to serve for many years of use. The 8" pan weighs 1 lb 7.2 oz clean, empty, and dry; the 10" pan weighs 1 lb 14.2 oz;...

Luv this pan

Berghoff Zeno Pressure Cooker: 10.6 Qt

Beautifully Functional Pressure Cooker
I bought this pressure cooker about 8 months ago. It has been in frequent use since purchase. We are a family of four and since I am only able to fill the cooker half way (necessary per the directions for most foods) the 10 quart size has been perfect. I love making broths and soups and have also cooked a roast, various vegetables, and dried beans. The thick plated bottom prevents any danger of scorching and the whole mechanism is super simple to operate. The huge bonus about pressure cookers is the time they save you. You can literally cook a soup "last minute" or at least turn one out in 30-45 minutes that tastes like it simmered for hours.

I also love the way it looks on the stove from an aesthetic point of view (it is beautiful!). The quality and durability are paramount when you are talking about a kitchen appliance that maintains these kinds of pressures, but why not have a good looking pot as well?

VERY happy with my purchase. Despite my initial hesitation...

All-Clad Stainless Fondue Pot with forks

I love this item......
Own alot of All Clad products and this is a new piece that I utterly love. Its a nice weight, hold the fondue of your choice at a perfect temperature via sterno which is not included. Each of the fondue forks has a different coloured 'button' on the end of each fork so you need not worry about knowing which is yours.

I also like the indentations on the pot where each fork can 'stand' which helps keep the forks from getting messy from sitting in the fondue mixture, or in the case of cooking meat allows the meat to cook thoroughly without sticking to the bottom of the fondue pot.

The stainless is easy to clean, and looks beautiful on my kitchen shelf between uses. Fondue has always been a fun thing in our home, and was never a 'fad'. It's a fun easy meal at least once a week, and a fun way to use left over vegetables, meat, pound cake etc. for dipping in dinner sauces and desert sauces.

While I am a huge fan of my Le Creuset collection and love that...

Awesome fondue pot
All-Clad does it again. Fondue pot is as functional as it is beautiful. The construction/quality of the pot is what you'd expect from All-Clad and I really love how the lid has the spots for the forks to rest so they don't fall into the pot.

All-Clad 18/10 Stainless Steel Chef's Pan Domed Lid, 12.5 Inch

Nice Lid, Too Bad It Doesn't Fit the Pan
This might be a long-winded review, so bear with me.

Looking at the lid on it's own, it's a fine lid. It's metal, shiny, and domed -- pretty much everything you want in a lid and more! The problem is that it doesn't fit what it's supposed to fit. Before you assume that I'm simply making a mistake, I'm basing this on advice that All-Clad itself gave me.

So we have an All-Clad chef's pan that was missing a lid. Doing some Internet searching, I came across the "All-Clad Lids & Covers Guide" on the MetroKitchen website, which indicates this lid fits the "All-Clad 4 qt. chef's pans, including Copper-Core." I measured the pan, and it's 12 inches across. Well, this lid description says 12.5 inches, but I figure with the lip around the edge of the lid, it was going to be a match. I filled the chef's pan with water, and it held *exactly* four quarts. This had to be the lid for our plan, right?

Nope. The lid is *just* a little too big... probably half an inch...

I hate cleaning, and I don't do things I hate very well, or even close. I always failed every time I "did" dishes. This thing is great; you have to make sure to clean it immediately after use, every time and it's easy to clean. You just need a stiff brush and hot water + hands. No soap required. They actually advise you NOT to use soap. I use this for grilled cheese sandwiches; In the last couple or so months, I started substituting butter with mayo or salad dressing. No harm done, to the food OR the pan. I also use this for pancakes, but you won't get those huge honkin' pancakes you sometimes/normally find at restaurants because this pan is tiny - it's 6.5 inches. The pancakes might be referred to as "silver dollar" pancakes, but the size of a silver dollar is like double the size of a US quarter dollar and 6.5 inches is...not.

Calphalon AcCuCore Sauce Pan with Cover

Premium saucepan is worth every penny!
Calphalon makes a range of cookware for different budgets. The AcCuCore series is definitely at the high end for a non-professional product. We make a lot of finicky sauces, and confections that require very precise control of temperature and heat distribution. This is the first all-metal saucepan I've found that gives us the needed control. Our Cognac Caramel Sauce came out perfect the first time I made it (I had expected it to cook too fast or too slow and that I'd have to "tune" it over time).

The pan is nicely balanced, solid without being too heavy (much lighter than enameled cast iron for the same size). The lid fits snugly and evenly all around (no "hot spots" where steams escapes because of an imperfect fit). The handle stays cool, and the opposing handle even on a 3qt saucepan is really needed when, say, pouring candy into molds evenly. The finish is durable, but you do need to be careful and wash it soon after using it (let it cool first and...

Amco Contemporary Butter Warmer

is one enough? are two too many?
This butter warmer has your basic frame that holds a candle below and a remove-for-easy-cleaning bowl up top. The only caveat I would raise has to do with the size of the bowl. It is really rather larger than you would want for individual butter dipping, as it will hold a LOT of butter. And while it might be just the thing for a romantic lobster pour deux, let's face it -- when it comes to dipping your lobster do you really want to have to be polite and share your butter? what a quandary...

Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 6-1/2-Quart Saucepot with Lid

Another Great Pot From Calphalon At A Great Amazon Price
Every professional chef-cook and-or serious home cook knows the importance of using the proper pot for specific purposes. So, this writing is for the novice.

So then ... As any serious Chef or Cook is fully aware of, expensive pots or pans will not make a great cook, no matter what any seller is trying to claim. Yet, this statement must be expanded to: 'Good cooking tools will aid and inspire serious cooks to improve his/her 'cooking skills', in addition, to making most cooking tasks much easier and noticeably more successful.

Having said that, my user review is on the ...
'Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 6-1/2 qt. (6.15 liter) Saucepot with Stainless Steel lid'

This 6-1/2 qt. pot is the perfect cooking vessel for just about anything you want to cook, which requires a deep pot. This holds particularly true for cooking 'Cheese Soups' or any one-pot meals which require cheeses in its recipes. This is a must have pot, for a small family. I own it, use it and am very happy with...

Miraculous Saucepot!
I used this saucepan 3 times the first day it arrived! NOTHING stuck to it and cleaning it was a snap! If you need a medium size saucepot, this commercial nonstick is the way to go. You can't go wrong with this one!

Great pot, but one problem
I've had this for a month, it's great. i love stewing, and the size is perfect for me. however, the handles and lid do get hot, so remember to put on gloves or wrap the handles with a rag before moving the pot around.

Bodum Chambord 21 by 21 cm, 8.3 by 8.3-Inch Cast Iron Enamel Grill Pan, Black

The little grill pan that could
You can't always be traipsing outside to use the grill, unless you live in the right part of the world for it or else have a very sheltered area. I love the way this grill pan brings the grilling indoors. True, it's got a small cooking area (21 centimeters square, just over 8 inches) but that's big enough for two hamburgers or a couple of small steaks or some vegetables. The pan has rather deep ridges, so the food rests above any fat that cooks out of it--and your food is embellished with very pretty grill marks.

This is a product that really begs the reviewer to mention pros and cons, so I will mention the most notable of them, starting with the negatives so I can finish with the good points:

CONS:

* This pan is heavy! Six pounds.
* Comes without a whisper of information on care or use of the product (this is not acceptable).
* The stainless steel handle stays cool and is easy to hold, but it seems to be just a bit loose from the get-go...

Very nice...
I love this because most of the grease that used to be on my steaks is now at the bottom of the pan. The only thing that would improve this is if they made a lid for it, because I feel like the grease is floating around the kitchen every time I cook meat without a lid. It is really well made though and should last a lifetime. Don't drop on your toes or you might break them since this is really heavy! If it wasn't this heavy though, it wouldn't last long. It's really easy to clean too.

Great Grill Pan
I've never been a big fan of grill pans - I've always found that they don't sear well and are generally disappointing when compared to grilling on a real grill. The Bodum Chambord is the first grill pan I've used that works as advertised. The substantial cast-iron build means that once the pan gets hot it retains it's heat so it cooks the food faster, the small size means that it is easy to store in the kitchen and the grilling surface cleans up very easily. I've grilled everything from veggies, to burgers and dogs to sandwiches and they all came out great.

If you've never used a cast iron pan before they take longer to heat up so you have to be patient before you put your food on. The upside to this wait is that the pan also takes longer to cool down. While this pan isn't stuitable as a total relacement for a grill it's a nice option if you just want to grill indoors. I couldn't be happier with this pan.

Calphalon One Infused Anodized Stainless-Steel Stack Steamer with Lid

Excellent product, very useful
An avid home cook that is a collector of both cookbooks and cooking gadgets writes this review. I use this steamer insert most days. I purchased the insert after continuing to read that steamed vegetables retained more of their vitamins and minerals. I did not want to go the bamboo steamer route, as I was afraid the wood could harbor bacteria. This product is now a must have in my kitchen. I have summarized my observations of this product below:

Pros:
1. Allows me to retrain more vitamins and minerals in the vegetables I feed my family
2. Easy to clean
3. Fits well in four or five of my Calphalon pots
4. Easy to store since it does fit inside other pots
5. Handles stay cool
6. Glass on lid is extremely thick
7. Glass lid fits snuggly which keeps steam from escaping
8. Large enough to steam a pound of haricot vert at one time
9. Excellent for making dim sum (steamed dumplings)
10. Reheats chicken breasts without drying...

Great value on a hard to find item and it shipped FAST!
The item was represented accurately and was in perfect condition. It was packaged well and received VERY quickly. It is just the right fit for the pot I had in mind and looks perfect!

Cajun Cookware Skillets 8 Inch Enamel Cast Iron Skillet

pretty and durable
I was very happy to have found this skillet. Not only is it really pretty, but it cooks like a dream. I love to cook with cast iron, but after using the 12 inch enamel coated cast iron skillet that I got with this one, it will be hard to ever go back to plain cast iron. It was easy to clean, the food did not stick at all and no seasoning required. I'm ordering a stew pot and casserole dish that is enamel coated cast iron. I will still keep the cast iron I have now, but these will be the everyday cookware from here on out.

The seller's also had great customer serive. They sent email confirmations, order status and updates, and tracking numbers when they shipped and the skillets came quickly with Fed Ex. Very reliable seller.

Great product, Wonderful price
Wonderful product, wonderful price. I purchased two of these, one for me and one for my mom and she loves hers as well. It cooks just like a cast iron skillet (cast iron skillets cooks food evenly) and it is small enough to fit in my toaster over (asa convention oven) perfectly. I cook cornbread, brownies, steaks, egges, pancakes, sauteed veggies, and much more. I love it. Clean-up is a breeze, thanks to the enamel I don't have to season the skillet like you have to do with traditional cast iron skillets. I love my skillet. I am looking at getting the 12" pretty soon, I hesitate because I already have a 12" that works great, it just isn't enamel. The enamel makes for less of a chore. I would also like to note that the shipping was really fast.

Don't bother
Loved the skillet until, cooking bacon, a big chunk of the enamel popped off scattering bits of enamel all over my kitchen, which left the skillet unusable, and a mess to clean up.

Cajun Cookware Pots 4-quart Seasoned Cast Iron Oval Casserole Pot - Gl10499as

Bread baking without kneading
The product enables me to bake an oval loaf using the NYTimes technique called "No-Knead Bread." The loaf emerges as a beautifully browned artisan loaf with a lovely crisp crust and a very lacy crumb.

Cast Iron Pot for Bread
I too bought this cast iron pot for baking no knead bread in. I have round cast iron in 5.5 qts and clay bakers but after baking the no knead bread for over 3 yrs, decided to get an oval, 4 qt baker. This pot seemed the right depth I was looking for and preseasoned. As I'm writing this review, I have bread baking in it now.

The pot came last night and took forever to get here via Fedex, but it did come from LA to NJ. I did wash it with water and rubbed it down with oil before putting the cold pot on the stove to gradually heat up. I have many cast iron pieces and love cast iron. I'm giving it 3.5 to 4 stars as the cast iron is very rough and the lid has an overhang in one area which means the lid was not made uniform. This is minor as the lid still fits, but to me is a flaw in production. There also could have been a deeper ridge so the lid fits more secure. Most of my cast iron is from Lodge but Cajun has some different pieces, not saying I won't buy from them again. I...

Bialetti Dama Gran Gala 3-Cup Stovetop Espresso Maker

Bialetti Stovetop Espresso Maker
I was first introduced to the Bialetti Stovetop Espresso Maker at a weekend reunion. A friend who shares an appreciation for a quality cup of coffee brought one with him knowing that we wouldn't have an espresso machine nearby. We fired it up on the stove, poured it off,and enjoyed an excellent cup of coffee. After I got back home, I purchased one for myself. The first brew on the new Bialetti was while camping on the coast. It worked great on the Coleman stove. I love my home espresso machine but the Bialetti is hard to beat, at home or away, when it comes to convenience and a quality cup of coffee. Great for brewing at work as well.

Very satisfied
Just this morning, my husband admitted that he wasn't too sure about me buying this item, but now is grateful, as it makes the espresso quickly and we have not gounds in the bottom of the cup!

All-Clad Stainless 6-Piece Cookware Set with Nonstick Fry Pan

Hard anodized aluminum is better
Pretty pots that will impress your friends, but hard anodized aluminum heats quicker and just as evenly, and it's a lot less expensive. We have both kinds and did casual, side-by-side tests that HAA won every time.

Alessi Stainless Steel Kettle with Melodic Whistle

Elegant but flawed
We have owned this model for at least 10 years. It is heavy and solid, but within one year the trigger spring broke. Balance is poor and the spout a little lower on the body than it should be for a good pour. The plastic insulation on the lower part of the handle is starting to melt. I have no idea how to replace the worn parts.
